“I smiled back …

“I smiled back at her. I thought such awful thoughts that I cannot even say them out loud because they would make Jesus want to drink gin straight out of the cat dish.”
― Anne Lamott

I’ve been joking about this quote lately with some friends. Today, I really mean it.

  1. You have friends & family who love you and will give you the strength you need when you find your own is failing. I bet I’m not the only one who is willing to listen to your awful thoughts, and maybe even chime in with a few of our own.

      • Always feel, it’s never wrong and always healthy. My first divorce I always imagined him getting run over by a big truck, brought it back for my second. Have now decided I can’t do marriage, which is strange because I have friends from Elementary school, most of my friendships are over 20 years, some have for 50 years.

    • Yes, it’s a classic. I believe that women in particular are always trying to be nice. Then we have these thoughts. They are honest and accurate. But not nice. And we feel bad about thinking them. And this is BAD. This quote makes me laugh and realize that if AL can think these things, then it’s okay. So can I. And so can you. Especially if our thoughts are honest and accurate!
